Using government official portals 

These government portals are maintained by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, providing the real-time status of insurance policies. 

VAHAN portal 

  • Go to the Parivahan Sewa website. 
  • Now, navigate to the “know your vehicle details” tab and click on the same. 
  • Use your registered mobile number to log in. However, if you have not created an account yet, then you can do so by using OTP. 
  • Now, enter the registration number and the verification code. 
  • Go to the “search vehicle” tab to see details, including the expiry date, which you can see under the “insurance up to” column. 

Use mParivahan App: 

  • First of all, download the mParivahan Application on your mobile. 
  • Use your mobile number to register or sign in. 
  • Choose the registration certification section where you need to enter your vehicle number. 
  • Once you enter the vehicle number successfully, you can see a copy of your vehicle details, including the validity of your insurance. 

Insurer’s official website or Application 

  • You can directly contact the insurance provider to check the most accurate and personal records. 
  • Go to the official website of the insurer. 
  • You need to visit the official website of your insurer first. 
  • Then use your registered number to log in. You can access the dashboard using your policy number. 
  • Look at the sections like “My policies” or “insurance information” to check the expiry date of the policy.

Using the Insurance Information Bureau 

IRDAI is regulated with the centralized database of IIB. 

  • Go to the official website of IIB. 
  • Navigate the ‘quick links’ here. Click on the V-Seva. 
  • Here, you need to enter information like name, mobile number, email, and registration number of the vehicle. 
  • After filling out the form, submit it to check the status of the policy. 

Use offline methods 

Policy documents 

  • You can check the physical copy of the insurance policy where the expiry date is listed, generally on the first page where the policy number is located. 
  • Call the toll-free customer care number. 
  • Call your insurance provider’s helpline or toll-free number. If you provide the registration number of the vehicle, then you can get instant assistance. 

RTO visit 

You can also visit the local Regional Transport office along with your vehicle’s RC to get the insurance details, including the expiry date.
